Full written post / accessibility read

Agent A writes test passed in its WAL. Agent B changes the shared tenant fixture while A is still working. Both branches are clean. If the WAL has no target version, a later reviewer cannot tell whether the verdict covers the state that reached deployment.

Knowing when a test ran helps, but a target version or immutable fixture ID makes the evidence comparable. Without that, the team may rerun prompts and tests only after discovering that one worker's hidden setup invalidated another's result.

In the synthetic setup, record the target version, pass the test, mutate the fixture from another worker, then ask the acceptance gate to compare versions. If it still accepts, the gate is vacuous. Make the negative control fail before relying on the next green run.

Use worktrees for files, leases for shared effects, and a version check before accepting the outcome. If a competing action moved the resource, invalidate the old verdict and retest. This is a small rule that prevents stale green evidence from becoming a release decision.

Four-beat scene transcript

1. The WAL says tests passed.

Agent A writes test passed in its WAL. Agent B changes the shared tenant fixture while A is still working. Both branches are clean. If the WAL has no target version, a later reviewer cannot tell whether the verdict covers the state that reached deployment.

Visual: What version of the shared fixture passed them?

2. A timestamp alone is too weak.

Knowing when a test ran helps, but a target version or immutable fixture ID makes the evidence comparable. Without that, the team may rerun prompts and tests only after discovering that one worker's hidden setup invalidated another's result.

Visual: Concurrent writes can occur between observation and action.

3. Deliberately compete.

In the synthetic setup, record the target version, pass the test, mutate the fixture from another worker, then ask the acceptance gate to compare versions. If it still accepts, the gate is vacuous. Make the negative control fail before relying on the next green run.

Visual: Change the target between test start and acceptance.

4. Bind the WAL to evidence.

Use worktrees for files, leases for shared effects, and a version check before accepting the outcome. If a competing action moved the resource, invalidate the old verdict and retest. This is a small rule that prevents stale green evidence from becoming a release decision.

Visual: Store source SHA plus external target version and owner.

Research and claim limits

The examples identified as illustrative or simulated are design probes, not reported incidents. Vendor specifications do not establish workload performance.
