More agents can make attention worse.

Video caption

More agents can make attention worse. Count misses prevented and recovery work created. A role needs a named miss class and measurable benefit. #EricFieldNotes

Full written post / accessibility read

Five role agents can produce five polished summaries, three stale warnings and no clear owner. Context injection can become the next channel for organizational drift rather than its cure.

For protected cases, record critical facts surfaced, false holds, duplicate messages, reviewer minutes and target effects. A supervisor that catches one miss while creating a larger queue may lose to a simple service rule.

Hold the case set, source records and lower gate fixed. Remove the role agent and measure outcome and attention again. If accepted decisions stay the same and interruptions fall, the extra agent has no demonstrated job.

Do that because sophistication is not productivity. Keep supervisors that improve accepted outcomes per unit of human attention; remove those that mostly move uncertainty between people.

Four-beat scene transcript

1. More agents can make attention worse.

Five role agents can produce five polished summaries, three stale warnings and no clear owner. Context injection can become the next channel for organizational drift rather than its cure.

Visual: A fleet of supervisors can flood one decision.

2. Interventions need a denominator.

For protected cases, record critical facts surfaced, false holds, duplicate messages, reviewer minutes and target effects. A supervisor that catches one miss while creating a larger queue may lose to a simple service rule.

Visual: Count misses prevented and recovery work created.

3. Run a removal test.

Hold the case set, source records and lower gate fixed. Remove the role agent and measure outcome and attention again. If accepted decisions stay the same and interruptions fall, the extra agent has no demonstrated job.

Visual: Compare with the same service gate and no steward.

4. Retire what cannot earn its cost.

Do that because sophistication is not productivity. Keep supervisors that improve accepted outcomes per unit of human attention; remove those that mostly move uncertainty between people.

Visual: A role needs a named miss class and measurable benefit.
