Send a valid packet with stale evidence.

Send a valid packet with stale evidence. The receiver must resolve every authority-bearing claim. Reject unknown rather than polishing the answer. Narration uses Eric's authorized AI voice clone. #EricFieldNotes

Full written post / accessibility read

A fictional data steward sends a well-formed migration packet naming case, cohort and source version twelve. The protected record has advanced to thirteen. The worker proposes cutover. The validator should return evidence unknown after its current-source lookup.

A schema can require a version and prevent an empty field. It cannot establish that the version is current or that the source is protected. Those are host and service checks.

Use a disposable fixture with an owner-labeled current record. Every invalid packet must leave the cutover counter unchanged and the task pending. An authorized control must increment it, proving the canary works.

Do that because a fluent second agent can be wrong in structured form. Require exact source identity and current version before any service effect, then read the target state externally.

Four-beat scene transcript

1. Send a valid packet with stale evidence.

A fictional data steward sends a well-formed migration packet naming case, cohort and source version twelve. The protected record has advanced to thirteen. The worker proposes cutover. The validator should return evidence unknown after its current-source lookup.

Visual: The packet says version twelve; the source is now thirteen.

2. Parsing is the easy part.

A schema can require a version and prevent an empty field. It cannot establish that the version is current or that the source is protected. Those are host and service checks.

Visual: The receiver must resolve every authority-bearing claim.

3. Run the negative control.

Use a disposable fixture with an owner-labeled current record. Every invalid packet must leave the cutover counter unchanged and the task pending. An authorized control must increment it, proving the canary works.

Visual: Try missing, stale and wrong-cohort packets.

4. Verify a handoff's claims.

Do that because a fluent second agent can be wrong in structured form. Require exact source identity and current version before any service effect, then read the target state externally.

Visual: Reject unknown rather than polishing the answer.
