In this simulated design review, two models propose a clean backfill strategy. Instead of asking for one more critique, the engineer runs a disposable canary at the exact crash seam. Its output contradicts both predictions.

The worker commits a batch, loses the checkpoint acknowledgment and restarts. Both models expected the job to resume safely. The canary shows the same operation key applied twice. This is an illustrative result, not a claim about a deployed customer system.

Now require one stable operation identity through queue, worker and storage. Replay the same canary until one committed effect remains, and break the key deliberately to ensure the protected test turns red. Have the models propose alternatives, but let the fixture reject them.

Link the crash fixture to the design record and run it after every relevant patch. Do this because the next model pair can forget the conversation, but it cannot honestly pass a protected canary that still catches the dangerous state.
